Delay counters a spell and suspends it for three turns instead of sending it to the graveyard. Modern tempo and control decks occasionally use it as a quasi-hard counter that buys a huge tempo advantage. The delayed spell often becomes irrelevant by the time it resolves, especially if the countering deck is ahead. Its unique interaction with suspend and cascade cards also gives it interesting niche applications.
