Three mana fits comfortably into control and midrange curves, letting decks answer key threats or bomb creatures on curve. In a format full of pushed creatures and synergy engines, having a kill spell that simply says “destroy target creature” provides reliability. Its long history and many reprints also make it familiar and accessible to a wide player base.
